About Paeony
Hi, I’m Paeony and I recently graduated with a 2:1 in Combined Honours in Arts (French and Latin) from the University of Durham. I also received a First in my dissertation on French literature and film. I attended Kingston Grammar School, where I gained 10 A*s and 1 A at GCSE level (including an A* in Maths), an A in AS Maths, and 1 A* and 2 As at A-Level.

I have previous experience as a GCSE tutor in Latin and I am currently working as a Maths (for KS3 and above) and French (GCSE) tutor. In addition to that, my six months spent working in a small business in Paris as an Operations intern, and my three months spent studying at university in Toulouse during my Erasmus year abroad, greatly enriched my level of French, equipping me with the tools to tutor in French speaking, listening, writing, and reading. During my internship, I became accustomed to assessing the language levels of French students aged between 15 and 18. I have also assisted teaching Maths at KS3 stage and Latin at primary level whilst I was at Kingston Grammar School and I have previously worked as a piano teacher.
The fact that I have only recently finished my studies myself means that I have first-hand knowledge of school syllabuses and years of experience in writing essays and studying for/ sitting exams – all of which I am keen to share with current secondary school pupils. I can also empathise with the stress and anxiety that school studies can bring and have gathered countless tips and coping strategies to help with this.
I mould my tutoring style and lesson plans to the specific needs of each student whilst also making sure that the relevant syllabus is covered in detail. Whilst homework can complement and supplement tutoring sessions, the amount and nature of the work can be tailored to each individual. I will seek to alleviate the stress associated with working towards exams rather than adding to it!

Paeony is a friend of mine from university and tutored my brother for his Latin GCSE. I couldn't really recommend Paeony enough as both a tutor and a person. She genuinely cares about doing a good job and puts a lot of her own time in to trying to make lessons as effective as they can be. Latin was one of my brother's weaker subjects but he went on to get an A* (8) which was in no small part thanks to Paeony's regular sessions.
Paeony is smart and able to grasp the essence of a question/problem and work out how best to help students approach it. Most importantly though, Paeony is friendly, fun, and kind. She would be an excellent tutor!I am an adult learner and began French lessons with Paeony as I wanted to try something new and improve my linguistic skills.
Paeony was a wonderful tutor and I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with her. Our sessions were well structured, and I always finished feeling as if I had learnt a lot.
Her method of teaching was clear and effective.
I recently went on holiday to France and felt very comfortable using my skills in shops and bars.
