About Nicola
I understand as a teacher I am engaging, passionate, creative, clear in my instructions and considerate of individual needs.
Having taught for over 25 years [degree, foundation and teachers], I have helped numerous students get creative and global careers of the ground whilst developing portfolios of work that they are proud of.
I LOVE drawing & textiles and inspire a creative, questioning and experimental approach in my students. Whether this is about developing a hobby, building on current studies, re-igniting an old interest or for professional development, I would be happy to chat about your particular needs.

About the lesson

I teach drawing, painting, colour, weaving, embroidery, printing, quilting, textile design, textile crafts and surface design.
I have expertise in teaching adults as well as preparing individuals for higher education. This may be for formal and / or those just intrigued to learn.
My focus is to respond to your needs, whilst my approach is supportive, playful, engaging and experimental.
Typical lessons last 1 - 2 hours, they are often practical but can also be advisory / review based - particularly useful when preparing for a portfolio based interview.
I have a degree in Textile Design, a masters in Contemporary Art and a research interest in contemporary craft practice.

Details
During our first meeting, we will decide on a program of study based on your needs.
I will provide lists of materials and tools needed for practical classes and can adapt lessons accordingly if you do not have particular items.
When teaching in person, I can do this in my studio or travel to your location and charge 0.45p per mile.
If you would like a portfolio review and feedback, I would need to see the folio 1 week prior to our discussion.
