About Frances
I am a BA graduate from the University of Alberta, majoring in Drama and Theatre. I also received my TESL certification from Inlingua Victoria, a language school out of Victoria, BC. I am a singer-songwriter/musician, so I love to bring music into the classroom and help make learning fun. I specialize in teaching Drama to ages 6 to adult - improv, comedy, dramatic acting, scene study, script work, musical theatre, ESL from youth to adult, and English/Language Arts from elementary school to University/College/Master's Degree editing and proofreading. My teaching methods are based on a creative learning approach. I do a quick check-in with the student and review the homework or where we last left off. If there are any questions or areas of confusion, I pinpoint the issue and we can make a song about it perhaps or go about learning the subject matter in a different way that makes more sense to the student and is taught in a way that is encouraging and fun for the student. My acting classes are based on the teachings of Stanislavsky and Chekhov, and Scott Swan. Students who are interested in digging into finding a sense of the 'real' and reacting naturally in fantastical situations would greatly benefit from my classes. I like to help actors delve into the text and be the best physical and mental storyteller that they can be.
