I have a doctorate in English, with an extensive background in History and have worked for various universities, carrying out research, presenting papers and also working as a private consultant. My main focus has been colonial Tasmanian, however I am competent across a range of geographical histories.

I prefer to focus on specific questions and my teaching is informed not simply by historical events but their cultural and social contexts. I am heavily influenced by recent shifts in historiography - such as narrative theory - however I also use more conventional approaches.
