About Jeremy
Instrumentalist Jeremy Perkins formed an immediate passion for music at a young age taking musical lessons in guitar, piano and trumpet. As a native of Miami, Florida raised in southwest Georgia, Perkins studied trumpet throughout middle and high school where he was accepted into numerous honor bands, festivals, and clinics such as the Tri-State Music Festival and the Southeastern United States Honor Band Clinic where he was often placed into the top tier of his section.
As an ensemble/chamber musician, Perkins has been highly active in University Wind Ensembles, Symphony Orchestras, Brass Bands, Trumpet ensembles, and chamber ensembles throughout his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He has performed in the large trumpet ensemble division as a quarterfinalist at the 2016 and 2018 National Trumpet Competitions.

In addition, Perkins has actively freelanced with a several churches, community orchestras, and chamber ensembles in the Metro Atlanta, Mid-Michigan, and Florida pan-handle regions.
Prior to being a Doctoral candidate at The Florida State University under Dr. Christopher Moore, Perkins studied with Justin Emerich at Michigan State University earning his Master of Music with Honors. Through his time living in Michigan, Perkins was selected to join the Jackson Symphony Orchestra staff as a Student Administrative Assistant and was formerly the Marketing Intern for the Michigan State University Community Music School. Before Michigan State, he studied with Dr. Douglas Lindsey and Michael Tiscione at Kennesaw State University where he received his Bachelor’s in Music Performance magna cum laude.
While living in Tallahassee, Perkins was on the Box Office/Floor Staff within the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and the Operating Staff for the Ruby Diamond Auditorium where he actively strived to contribute to his community and learn various logistical/operational skills for future endeavors. He was also on staff with the Grand Teton Music Festival as their Patron Services Associate in 2024.
Since his time in higher education, Perkins has had the opportunity to perform and learn from several significant trumpet players/pedagogues in Masterclass settings such as: Wiff Rudd, professor of Trumpet at Baylor University; Allan Dean, former professor of Trumpet at Yale University; renowned international soloist Allen Vizzutti; collaborative pianist Rebecca Wilt; UC Boulder Trumpet professor Ryan Gardner; Alexander White, Assistant Principal Trumpet of the Seattle Symphony; and Michigan State Trumpet Professor Justin Emerich.
Through his teaching endeavors, Mr. Perkins has been on staff for several middle and high school band programs in Georgia and Michigan. Perkins has coached undergraduate Trumpet ensembles at FSU and maintains a private music studio through where he teaches musicians of all ages Trumpet, Piano, and Ukulele.
Perkins aspires to become a distinguished Trumpet Professor and maintain a studio of vibrant and talented young trumpeters while maintaining a career freelancing, discussing research, commissioning new music, performing with various instrumental/chamber ensembles, etc.
