About Kyra
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Nevada in 2019. During this time I did research into functionalizing organic polymers. From 2019-2023 I worked at developing methods and training people with no chemistry background as well as processing client data at a Geochemistry company. Starting in 2023 I began a Doctoral degree in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee where I’m currently working with Ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy to probe how the cellular wall of bacteria affects the movement of small molecules through the membrane. Since 2023 I have been teaching and tutoring undergraduate college students in chemistry.

I always hear college-level students say they hate chemistry, my goal is to change hate to appreciation. To do this I work hard to connect the material to your interests and experiences. I have worked with students who have changed their grades from 16% on exam 1 to 98% on the final with weekly sessions. You don’t have to love chemistry by the end but I deeply hope I can convince you it isn’t worth hate.
