About Stephen
My name is Stephen Riesen, and I’m a student’s teacher, in the sense that my whole career, I’ve been studying just to be able to serve you best. I’ve known I wanted to teach from a very young age because my first piano teacher became my loudest cheerleader. I am a current Doctoral student at the University of Michigan and work as a Professional Opera Young Artist when not teaching.

In my lessons, I teach voice, theory, and piano in a compassionate, empathetic way that respects both the player, and the style of music. I am a huge proponent of learning theory and will almost certainly certainly incorporate it into our weekly regiment. I usually am considered a gentle giant. Come find your inner musician!
