About Tarryn

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher from South Africa, passionate about empowering students through language learning. Married and a parent to a young daughter, I understand the importance of creating a supportive, adaptable learning environment where students feel encouraged to grow.

With a teaching degree and over five years of ESL experience in Korea, I have had the privilege of working with students from diverse backgrounds, adapting my approach to support their unique learning styles and goals. My experience also includes working one-on-one with a student with learning difficulties, which strengthened my commitment to accessible, personalized education.

I believe that English is an essential language to master, opening doors for communication, education, and career opportunities in today’s globalized world. My journey as an educator has been deeply fulfilling, and I am excited to bring my expertise to the online space.

For students interested in in-person tutoring, I am also available for face-to-face sessions, providing flexibility in learning options to suit your needs. I look forward to supporting you on your English language journey!

About the lesson

Qualifications and Experience:
I hold a Bachelor’s in Education and a Postgraduate degree in Inclusive Education, which have equipped me with the skills to teach a variety of learners. My teaching journey began in South Africa, where I worked as an assistant teacher and facilitator, gaining hands-on experience with diverse learning needs. I also have experience tutoring first-language English students in South Africa.

For the past five years, I've taught English in Korea, working with students from elementary to adult levels in classroom settings, as well as providing personalized one-on-one tutoring. I have experience teaching online via Zoom and Skype, making me adaptable to both virtual and in-person formats.

What to Expect in Your First Lesson:
In our first class, we'll focus on your learning goals and current skill level. I’ll take the time to understand your strengths, areas for improvement, and preferred learning style. Together, we’ll set clear goals to guide our future lessons and ensure you feel confident and motivated from the start.

How I Teach:
My teaching is student-centered, focusing on building confidence and practical communication skills. Whether you aim to improve conversational English, master grammar, or prepare for exams, I design each lesson to suit your unique needs. I use interactive activities, real-life examples, and structured practice to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

Teaching Approach:
I believe learning is most effective when it’s personalized and enjoyable. My approach emphasizes strong communication skills and fluency, with plenty of opportunities for practice and feedback. I encourage questions and active participation, creating an open and comfortable space where you feel empowered to learn.

Availability:
I offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs. Lessons can be held online or, if preferred, in person at a library, coffee shop, or at my home.
