About Rebecca
Hi, I’m Becca. I’m an online English tutor with over six years of experience working with students up to Year 11, with a particular focus on helping GCSE students feel more confident with English and better prepared for their exams.
I tutor both GCSE English Language and Literature, covering areas such as Shakespeare, 19th-century and modern texts, poetry, creative writing, reading skills and exam technique. I’ve worked with a range of GCSE texts, including:
Macbeth,
Romeo and Juliet,
Much Ado About Nothing
An Inspector Calls,
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
A Christmas Carol
Lord of the Flies
Jane Eyre
Animal Farm
Love and Relationships poetry anthology
Power and Conflict poetry anthology.
Lessons are one-to-one and tailored to the student, so we can focus on whatever they need most. This might be understanding a difficult text, improving essay structure, developing analysis, learning how to use quotations effectively, or simply getting more comfortable with the types of questions that come up in exams.
I try to keep lessons relaxed and varied rather than spending the whole hour working through exam questions. We might use quizzes, discussion, examples and short activities alongside written work, depending on what works best for the student. I also spend time on exam technique, helping students understand what questions are actually asking and how to approach them in a clear and manageable way.
I know that confidence can make a big difference at GCSE. My aim is to give students a space where they can ask questions, make mistakes and work things through without feeling under pressure. Whether they need regular support throughout their GCSEs or a bit of extra help before an exam, I’m happy to adapt lessons around them.
I have a BA (Hons) in English with Drama from De Montfort University and an MA in Publishing from the University of Central Lancashire.

I offer flexible, one-to-one online English lessons tailored to each student and what they need help with. Lessons are relaxed and interactive, with a focus on building confidence while developing reading, writing and analytical skills. For GCSE students, we can also focus on exam technique and preparation, helping them feel more comfortable with the format and expectations of their exams.

Becca has provided daily tuition for our 7 year old son, supplementing the work provided by his school during lockdown. Becca has taught across all of his subjects including maths, literacy, science, religious studies, PE, french and history - she has also introduced Latin. My son has thoroughly enjoyed being taught by Becca, she has made the lessons fun and he has started back at school with confidence and a new found love of maths. Becca has also had to contend with a boisterous puppy and a 10 year old competing for her time whilst teaching my son - she has great patience!
Rebecca was a great student who studied hard and integrated well with her peers. All her work was of a high standard and I have no hesitation in recommending Rebecca for employment opportunities.
