About Kent
My dance journey began 11 years ago, fueled by a passion for translating emotion into movement and exploring the expressive possibilities of the body. I trained in contemporary, jazz, and performance studies, completing coursework in choreography, improvisation, and movement theory to deepen my technical foundation and artistic perspective. Teaching became a natural extension of my artistic path as I discovered the joy of guiding students through their own growth and creative expression. Working with learners from diverse backgrounds has strengthened my ability to personalize instruction, adapt lessons, and encourage creativity, building both skill and confidence in every student. I approach teaching with warmth, attention to detail, and a focus on fostering artistic individuality. Lessons combine demonstrations, structured exercises, improvisation, choreography breakdowns, and reflective analysis, creating a comprehensive learning experience. I encourage students to take risks, explore personal style, and integrate technical mastery with expressive intent. Celebrating progress and cultivating self-assurance is central to my approach, ensuring each student feels motivated and capable. Beyond teaching, I continue performing, choreographing, and attending workshops to expand my knowledge and skills. Dance has given me resilience, emotional insight, and creative fulfillment, which I bring to every lesson. My goal is to help students discover confidence, technical precision, and the joy of self-expression through the transformative power of movement.

Dance lessons with me are designed to merge technical skill development with expressive creativity in a supportive, engaging environment. I guide students through alignment, posture, rhythm, musicality, coordination, and interpretive movement, fostering both skill and artistic awareness. Lessons focus on connecting technique with emotion, encouraging students to explore movement as a medium for personal expression. Each class combines structured exercises, choreography exploration, improvisation, and storytelling through movement, creating an atmosphere where learners feel challenged, inspired, and safe. My approach emphasizes confidence, resilience, and artistic growth, allowing students to experiment, explore, and deepen their understanding of dance as both a discipline and expressive art form. The goal is to nurture dancers who feel confident in their body, musicality, and creative voice while building a foundation for future performance success.
Lessons progress systematically for beginners, intermediate dancers, and advanced performers. Beginners focus on basic combinations, balance, rhythm, coordination, and foundational technique to develop confidence. Intermediate learners explore expressive phrasing, choreographic transitions, musical interpretation, improvisation, and stylistic nuance. Advanced students refine technique, stamina, choreography mastery, performance presence, and interpretive depth, often preparing for auditions, showcases, or competitions. Weekly assignments include conditioning exercises, combination drills, improvisation prompts, and reflective movement exercises to reinforce skill development and creative exploration. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s pace, strengths, and goals, ensuring steady growth and continuous engagement while fostering both technical excellence and artistic expression.
Dance often becomes transformative for students, enhancing self-confidence, emotional intelligence, discipline, and creative problem-solving. Learners gain an understanding of how movement communicates narrative and emotion, translating technical mastery into authentic self-expression. My aim is to help each dancer feel capable, inspired, and empowered to perform with clarity, presence, and individuality. Through encouragement, structured progression, and constructive feedback, students not only build skill but also cultivate resilience, artistic sensitivity, and joy in creative exploration, resulting in holistic growth both on and off the stage.
