About Maddison
Hi!! I’m Maddison (Mads), my pronouns are they/them, and I’ve just achieved a 1st in my first year at University College London studying English Literature.
I’ve also had prior experience teaching in a junior school, where I helped students with reading and literacy. Throughout sixth form, I took on the role of peer mentor, and frequently interacted with and helped pupils on a one-to-one basis.
Moreover, I’ll take most of my teaching methods from my success at GCSE and A-Level, where I achieved 10 level 9’s, 3 A*s, and an A* in AFA Creative Writing.

- My lessons will focus on both GCSE and A-Level English
- I’ll make sure my tutees know both what to write and how to write in their exams, ensuring they cater their answers to the mark scheme, time constraints, and intricacies of the questions
- A typical lesson will last one to two hours depending on whether the tutee is approaching an exam period
- In addition to lessons, I’ll provide revision from the previous session and prep work for the next
- I’m also willing to help work with tutees on any essays they’ve written independently or at school
- I’ll cater my teaching methods to how the individual works best, but will vary the lessons with PowerPoints, worksheets, close reading tasks, and timed essay practise
