About Garvan

I have just graduated with first class honors from a Law and Business degree, and I am currently studying post-graduate medicine in UCD.

My goal is to ensure that graduates of science and non-science backgrounds excel in both section 2 and in section 1, as well as advising non-science graduates on the best approach to studying for section 3.

About the lesson

During the third year of my degree, I sat the GAMSAT in March 2025 for the first and only time.
While I had done Physics for my leaving certificate, I had not done Biology or Chemistry.
I received a score in the 98th percentile for section 2 and a score in the 95th percentile in section 3
These lessons are for both individuals with a science and non-science background and will look to teach you everything that I did that helped me achieve an overall score of 71.

Perfect! Garvan is an excellent tutor with a highly supportive, individualised approach to GAMSAT prep. For Section 3 in particular, he breaks down stems, complex concepts, and problem-solving clearly and patiently, while adapting to my pace and level. I feel so much better equipped to study independently and navigate the exam more strategically and confidently. Highly recommend!

I came across Garvan on Superprof while searching for GAMSAT tutoring, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made in my exam preparation journey.

What sets Garvan apart is his ability to break down each section of the GAMSAT, into genuinely manageable, logical steps. He doesn't just teach content, he teaches you how to think under pressure, and which resources to use to meet the demands of the exam.

From our very first session, it was clear that Garvan tailored his approach to me. He took the time to identify my weak spots and structured lessons specifically around closing those gaps, rather than following a generic curriculum. His explanations are clear and patient.

What I appreciated most was his genuine investment in my progress. He remembered details from previous sessions, followed up on areas we'd worked on, and consistently pushed me to aim higher.

If you're preparing for the GAMSAT and want a tutor who combines deep knowledge with real mentorship, I 100 percent recommend Garvan.

My classes focus on all three sections. Generally I split the class in two and focus on two of the three sections.
For section 2, I teach a formula for producing top quality, thought provoking essays, that can be repeated regardless of the prompts.
For section 1, I will show you how to approach questions, what to look our for, what each question is asking, before breaking the classes down into focusing on each type of s1 question.
For section 3, my classes primarily focus on how to answer question relying entirely on the stem. Coming from a non-science background, I was forced to rely on reasoning rather than scientific knowledge. This is something I will pass on.
