About Gwyn
I'm Gwyn (that's my bunny, Cupid, in the photo with me), and I am thrilled to be your tutor! I'm a professional performing artist (ballet dancer, singer, and actor), and I'm also earning my degree in Cinematic Arts/New Media and Creative Writing.
I tutor middle school and high school students on a range of writing and reading related skills.
In high school, I had A's in every class (until Algebra 2, which is why I don't tutor algebra...), but it NEARLY didn't look like that. In 7th grade, I started to become incredibly bored at school. I told my mom, "I hate English!" Well, I come from a long line of English teachers, so that just wasn't going to cut it.
So, my mom tutored me, and I soon rekindled my passion for writing. In fact, I excelled in all my subjects and tested out of 8th grade.
Now I am here to help YOU fall in love with reading and writing...or at least, help you stop hating it! More importantly, I'm here to help you master the skills of reading and writing so you can use these tools to build the kind of life YOU want. When you can read and write effectively, you can better understand the world and better share YOUR ideas with the rest of us.
Plus, I have 10+ years teaching ballet, acting, and improv to students of all ages, so I draw on my experiences across a range of communication disciplines to help make learning anything FUN! (Or, at the very least, it won't be BORING!)

My methods are student-centered, meaning you're the one in charge of your learning. At the start of our time together, I'll ask you what your goals are. You might answer something like, "I need to correct the grammatical errors in my paper so I can resubmit it tomorrow for a better grade." Or, you might alternatively say, "I want to write a short film about my cat named Mouse." Either way, as long as we're on task with the learning objectives you've agreed on with your parent or teacher, I am here to help make that happen.
