About Zixuan
Growing up, I had the opportunity to explore a variety of dance styles, including ballet, Latin dance, and hip-hop, which sparked my passion for movement. I rediscovered hip-hop four years ago, and since then, I haven’t looked back. The rhythm, energy, and creativity of hip-hop drew me in, and it became my main focus. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Dance, specifically on the choreography and performance track. My studies have provided me with a solid foundation in dance techniques, including hip-hop, kinesiology, and soon, I will be advancing to intermediate hip-hop/house. These courses have helped me deepen my understanding of both the physical and artistic aspects of dance, making me a well-rounded dancer and choreographer. During my time in college, I’ve had the privilege of performing in two major programs, showcasing three different pieces across ten performances. These experiences have not only enhanced my performance skills but also taught me the importance of collaboration, creativity, and discipline in dance. As a passionate and committed dancer, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and love for dance with others, helping students build their confidence and skills, and inspiring them to express themselves through movement.

As a current Undergraduate Dance student, my teaching method is centered around making dance fun, engaging, and accessible for students of all levels. I believe that dance is a creative outlet that should inspire confidence, self-expression, and enjoyment. My lessons focus on learning and performing choreographies created by renowned choreographers, specifically tailored to meet your needs and preferences.
Teaching Method & Techniques:
• Personalized Choreography Selection: Based on the student’s preferences, level, and style, I will carefully choose existing choreographies by other choreographers that fit the student’s interests and abilities. Whether you prefer Hip Hop, K-pop, or other styles, I’ll ensure the choreography is both challenging and fun.
• Focus on Technique & Style: While we focus on learning and performing the choreography, I will emphasize technique, musicality, and style. This includes understanding the rhythm, movement quality, and how to express the music through your body.
• Interactive Learning: I encourage an interactive and collaborative learning environment. Students are encouraged to ask questions, experiment with their movement, and provide feedback during the session. This allows for a deeper understanding of the choreography.
• Fun and Engaging Atmosphere: I strive to keep lessons enjoyable and light-hearted while still focusing on growth and improvement. Dancing is about having fun, and I make sure each session is something students look forward to!
A Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Warm-up: We begin each session with a light warm-up to get the body ready for movement, focusing on flexibility, strength, and coordination.
2. Choreography Breakdown: I will introduce the selected choreography, break it down into smaller sections, and work through each part step by step, focusing on technique, timing, and expression.
3. Review & Practice: After learning the choreography, we will review the steps and practice them in full, building confidence and fluidity.
4. Cool-down: To end the lesson, we’ll do a cool-down to stretch the muscles and reflect on the day’s progress.

• Customized Choreography Choices: Unlike traditional lessons that may focus on creating original choreography, I focus on finding existing choreographies that fit the student’s style and needs. This allows students to perform routines created by known choreographers in the industry.
• Versatility in Dance Styles: I teach a wide range of styles, from Hip Hop to K-pop, offering lessons in various genres to keep the experience fresh and exciting. I tailor each lesson to the student’s preferences.
• Focus on Student Enjoyment: My approach is based on ensuring that students not only learn choreography but also have fun while doing it. I believe dance should be an enjoyable and freeing experience, and I make sure my lessons reflect that mindset.
