About Shemar

Hello! I'm Shemar, an architecture student who works on real architectural projects freelance. I teach AutoCAD 2D drafting and Chief Architect 3D modeling to students and beginners who want to create professional architectural drawings and building designs.
My Background
I'm currently pursuing my architecture degree while taking on freelance architectural projects. This dual experience gives me a unique advantage—I understand both academic requirements and professional industry standards. I use AutoCAD and Chief Architect regularly to create construction documents, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings for actual clients.
I started where you are now: confused by the interface, unsure which commands to use, and frustrated by the learning curve. Through dedicated practice and real project experience, I've mastered both programs. Now I help others skip the confusion and learn efficiently.
Why I Tutor
I discovered I genuinely enjoy teaching when classmates asked for help with software problems. Watching someone go from frustrated to confident is incredibly rewarding. I decided to offer formal tutoring because I can provide the clear, patient guidance I wish I'd had when starting out.
What I Offer
Real-World Knowledge: Everything I teach comes from actual projects, not just textbooks. You'll learn professional workflows and industry-standard practices that clients expect.
Student Perspective: Because I'm currently in architecture school, I understand your challenges. I explain concepts in clear language, not confusing jargon, and I remember what it's like to be a beginner.
Structured Approach: I've developed a complete curriculum that takes you from absolute basics through advanced 3D modeling, with hands-on projects that build your portfolio.
Personalized Pacing: We move at your speed. Need extra time on floor plans? We take it. Grasp concepts quickly? We move faster.
Practical Results: You'll create portfolio-quality work—complete floor plans, elevations, sections, 3D models, and renderings you can actually use for school, jobs, or personal projects.
My Commitment
When you work with me, you get:

Patient, clear instruction that breaks down complex concepts into simple steps
Professional standards so you develop good habits from the start
Ongoing support between sessions for quick questions
Honest feedback that helps you improve
Affordable rates because I'm a student helping students

Who I Help
My tutoring is perfect for complete beginners, high school students exploring architecture, college students struggling with coursework, career changers learning new skills, or anyone wanting to design buildings professionally. No prior experience required—just motivation to learn and willingness to practice.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe anyone can learn architectural software with proper guidance. It's not about being "tech-savvy" or "artistic"—it's about understanding the logic of the tools and practicing consistently. My job is to make the complex simple and build your confidence with every session.
Learning AutoCAD and Chief Architect takes time and practice, but with structured lessons and personalized support, you'll develop real skills that open professional doors. I bring patience, current expertise, and genuine enthusiasm to help you succeed.
I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your architectural design goals.

My Teaching Approach
As a current architecture student who works in a real design firm, I understand exactly what it's like to learn architectural software from scratch. I remember the frustration of not knowing which command to use or why my drawing won't line up correctly. That's why my teaching style focuses on breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps that actually make sense.
I don't just show you which buttons to click—I teach you why we do things a certain way in the architecture profession. Every technique I teach comes from real projects I've worked on, so you're learning industry-standard practices, not just software mechanics.

My Teaching Method

My approach combines three key elements:

1. Learn by Doing: We spend 70% of our time actually drawing and building models together. I demonstrate a technique, then you practice it immediately while I guide you. No long lectures—just hands-on work.

2. Real-World Projects: Instead of random exercises, we work on actual building designs. You'll create complete floor plans, elevations, and 3D models of real residential structures. By the end of our sessions, you'll have portfolio-quality work to show.

3. Problem-Solving Focus: I teach you how to think through design challenges, not just memorize commands. When something goes wrong (and it will!), I show you how to troubleshoot it yourself so you become independent.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

First 10 minutes: We review your homework and I answer any questions from the previous session. I make sure you truly understood the last concept before moving forward.

Next 30-40 minutes: I introduce a new topic through live demonstration. For example, if we're learning to create floor plans in AutoCAD, I'll share my screen and draw a complete room while explaining every step. You can see exactly what I'm doing and ask questions in real-time.

Next 30-40 minutes: You work on the same exercise while I watch and provide guidance. I can see your screen and help you when you get stuck. This is where the real learning happens—when you're actually doing the work yourself.
Final 10-15 minutes: We review what you created, I give constructive feedback, and assign homework to reinforce the skills. I also preview what's coming in the next session so you know what to expect.

Between sessions, you'll have practice assignments (usually 2-3 hours of work) that build on what we covered. I'm available via message for quick questions, and I review all homework before our next meeting.

What Makes My Tutoring Different

I'm a Student Too: I'm currently in architecture school, so I recently went through the exact same learning curve you're facing. I know which concepts are confusing and which shortcuts actually save time. I explain things in student language, not technical jargon.

Real Firm Experience: I work at an actual architecture firm, so everything I teach reflects how professionals actually use these programs. You're not learning outdated textbook methods—you're learning what works in the real world today.

Personalized Pacing: Unlike classroom courses that move at a fixed speed, we go at YOUR pace. If you need to spend an extra session on floor plans, we do that. If you grasp 3D modeling quickly, we move faster. The course adapts to you.

Patient and Encouraging: I remember how overwhelming this software felt when I started. I never make you feel bad for asking "basic" questions. Every architect started exactly where you are, including me.

Portfolio Development: I help you create work you can actually use—for college applications, job interviews, or freelance projects. We focus on producing professional-quality drawings and models, not just completing exercises.

Affordable Student Rates: Because I'm a student myself, my rates are significantly lower than licensed architects, making quality tutoring accessible.

Who These Lessons Are For

My tutoring is perfect for:

1. Complete Beginners: No experience with AutoCAD or Chief Architect? No problem. We start from absolute basics and build up systematically. I assume zero prior knowledge.

2. High School Students: Interested in architecture as a career? I'll teach you the fundamental skills and help you build a portfolio for college applications.

3. College Students: Taking architecture or design courses and struggling with the software? I can help you catch up, understand assignments, and improve your grades.

4. Career Changers: Adults looking to transition into architecture, interior design, or construction? I'll teach you marketable skills at a pace that fits your schedule.

5. DIY Homeowners: Want to design your own home addition or renovation? I can teach you enough to create professional drawings for permits and contractors.

6. Aspiring Freelancers: Looking to offer drafting services? I'll teach you the complete workflow from client concept to finished construction documents.

7. Prerequisite Requirements: None! You just need a computer capable of running AutoCAD and Chief Architect (I can help you get trial versions to start), reliable internet, and willingness to practice between sessions.

8. Ideal Student Profile: You're motivated to learn, willing to practice outside of lessons, comfortable with technology, and interested in architecture or building design. Age doesn't matter—I've helped students from 16 to 60.

Course Structure Options

I offer flexible formats to match your goals:
Structured 12-Week Course: Follow my complete curriculum from AutoCAD basics through advanced Chief Architect 3D modeling. Perfect if you want comprehensive training and a complete portfolio project.

Focused Tutoring Sessions: Need help with specific topics? We can do targeted sessions on just floor plans, or just 3D modeling, or whatever you need most.

Homework Help: Stuck on a school assignment? Book single sessions for guidance on specific projects.

Software Crash Course: Need to learn quickly for a job or project? I offer intensive training packages.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe anyone can learn architectural software with the right guidance. It's not about being "good at computers" or "artistic"—it's about understanding the logic of the tools and practicing consistently.
My job is to make the complex simple, celebrate your progress, and build your confidence. I want you to finish our sessions feeling capable and excited to design, not overwhelmed and frustrated.
Architecture software is just a tool—what matters is your creativity and vision. I'll teach you to use the tools professionally so you can focus on creating great designs.

Let's Get Started
Whether you want to pursue architecture professionally or just design your dream home, I'm here to guide you step-by-step. My experience as both a student and a working professional gives me a unique perspective that makes learning practical, relevant, and actually enjoyable.
