About Maila
My name is Maila and I was born and raised in London. Throughout my schooling years I attended a state-run secondary and sixth-form, and now being at a University like UCL, I have really come to see the divide between Private and State school educated students. My experience at University has pushed me to advocate more for state-schooled students earning equal opportunities as private-educated students as well as general Social Mobility. This pushed me to join a tutoring charity during my first year at UCL where I supported other State-educated students like myself throughout their A Levels. This was one of the most rewarding opportunities I could have gotten since I was able to actually discuss this divide with my tutees and offer them advice for when they go onto University the following year.
Aside from this, my passions include reading books surrounding Literary fiction as well as historical fiction as I believe both are good educators on our society and politics.

In my tutoring lessons I will offer tailored advice to each student ensuring that my tutees feel their individual needs are met regarding any concerns surrounding exams and / or content with the subject.
My teaching methodology usually begins with a conversation about the key areas of concern for the tutee and discussing different techniques which they feel comfortable with when approaching the exam.
Then go onto discussing a suitable plan and structure of lessons for the next coming weeks, which we shall review together.
The typical length of a lesson which I offer is an hour but I am flexible if this needs to be longer or shorter as suited to the person.
My qualifications include 9 GCSEs from grades 6-8 and my A Levels include three A*s in History, English Literature and Classical Civilisation. I am currently studying at UCL and am on track to receive a First-Class Honours.
My lessons are only for students studying their A Levels
