About Leon
I grew up in Cornwall, was an academic high-achiever at a young age and went to Truro School, fell in love with books and music, studied Literature and Film at the University of Exeter, completed an MA in Literature at the University of Bristol in 2004, and have been traveling, living in Mexico and Spain, writing (music and fiction) and working as a language teacher ever since. I recently returned to Somerset to look after a family member and am now based once again in the UK as a writer, musician, educator, and a (nearly) fluent speaker of Castilian Spanish. The style of teaching that I offer is creative, cooperative, rapport-based, and aimed at inspiring the desire to acquire subject knowledge through passion and intellectual curiosity, not simply going through the motions imposed by educational institutions. Students have a curriculum to follow and exams to pass, but they also have a mind to cultivate and a rich and complex life ahead of them. If you want something other than your typical target-oriented pedagogue, I would aspire to provide that.
