About Matthew
I am a passionate violin tutor with 6 years of experience teaching students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Over this time, I have successfully taught around 150 students, helping them develop strong violin techniques, musical understanding, and confidence. My tutoring approach is friendly, flexible, and student-centered.
I believe that learning music should be enjoyable as well as structured. I adapt my lessons according to each student’s learning pace, goals, and interests. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning and improving. My lessons cover essential violin skills such as posture, bow control, finger placement, intonation, rhythm accuracy, and tone quality.
I also teach music theory, sight-reading, scales, and ear training to support overall musicianship. Advanced students receive guidance in musical expression and performance preparation. One of my strengths is my clear and patient teaching style. I break down complex techniques into simple steps and help students build effective practice routines.
I also guide students on how to practice efficiently and stay motivated. In addition to violin lessons, I can support students with basic music theory and general musicianship. My goal is to help students enjoy learning the violin while achieving steady progress and confidence.

My violin teaching methodology is built on creativity, guidance, and responsibility. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new ideas.
Creativity helps students enjoy learning violin. I include fun exercises, expressive playing, and musical exploration in lessons. Students learn to understand music beyond notes and develop their own style and confidence.
As a mentor and critical thinker, I focus on helping students understand techniques clearly. I explain the logic behind posture, bowing, fingering, and rhythm. Students are encouraged to think, listen, and correct themselves during practice.
Accountability is a strong part of my approach. I set clear goals for each lesson and track improvement over time. Students learn the value of regular practice, patience, and dedication. Feedback is always constructive and supportive.
In addition to violin, I teach related subjects such as music theory, rhythm reading, ear training, basic composition ideas, and performance skills. My aim is to guide students toward becoming disciplined, creative, and confident violinists.
