About
I am excited and challenged to apply for employment as Hourly Paid Lecturer/Tutor in your institution. I have quite a complex and interesting academic and professional backgrounds, and I believe that these experiences have prepared me well enough to contribute to the goal and objectives of the institution. Moreover, I have an innate desire and passion for teaching, and for the rest of my professional life, I like to dedicate it to the delivery and promotion of knowledge. Until recently, I was the Business Development Manager and Associate Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University (formerly Kumasi Polytechnic) in Ghana. During the period, I developed and transformed some of the institution’s research articles/proposals into viable commercial products. In the end, I sought a $500,000 funding from the World Bank to establish a Centre for Research and Technology Innovation. The Centre became the focal point for product innovation, market analysis and commercialisation, as well as protection of the institution’s intellectual property. Again, I was the Head of Business Strategy Department of one of the largest Savings and Loans Companies in Ghana, helped it achieve significant growth and profitability during my three-year tenure. I have also been involved in consultancy work with a group of 4 students as consultants to develop a go-to-market strategy for an ICT company in Norway. We utilised business models and offered a clear business plan, which allowed the client institution introduce a new product successfully into the market. In the UK here, I have been working for one of the largest gambling companies in the world as a Database Administrator. We have together offered successful back-end support allowing the business become the best gambling company in terms of infrastructure in 2016/2017. I have had significant teaching experience over the last 15 years. I had my first teaching appointment in 1995/1996 and 2001/2002 where I taught Mathematics and Science in High School after I completed my A-Levels and first degree respectively. This was a requirement for my National Service in Ghana. After that, I taught English and basic French Language at a Vocational School in 1996/1997 before I decided to pursue my first degree. I took appointment as a Management Lecturer (part-time) where I taught the Adult Division of the Valley View University Campus in Kumasi Ghana. During the 2-year period, I offered lectures to students of average age of 30 in Small Business Management, Principles of Business Management, Marketing and International Marketing/Business. I was also an Associate Lecturer for the Department of Management at Kumasi Technical University (KTU) where I developed curricula and course materials for teaching, delivered lectures and assessed/supported the students in business-related subjects, as well as thesis supervision. My office also offered support to students in developing their own businesses. I have a demonstrated ability to teach in several modules. Our MBA was broad-based and offered critical business management courses such as Business Strategy, Relationship/Services (and General) Marketing, Negotiations, Ethics/CSR, Consultancy, Management Controls, Corporate Finance, etc, with emphasis on emerging economies where China was the case study. Having been trained as an Engineer, I have the ability to handle some aspects of Mathematics and Statistics. My professional experience also provides me with the flexibility to teach different modules in Sales and Marketing, Business Plans, Relationship Marketing, Financial Modelling using EXCEL and other Data Analysis using Business Intelligence Tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SSRS/SSAS, etc). As part of my doctorate degree, I wrote about 30 working papers in Corporate Governance, Managerial Economics, Strategic Leadership, Performance Management and International Marketing Management, and this has helped my writing skills greatly. Having utilised NVivo as a key Data Analysis Tool in my thesis, I can also impart that knowledge unto my students. Lastly, I have used an online platform (User Dashboard) before where assignments and discussions were held live during my doctorate degree, meaning that I can teach online as well.
