About Bruce
I am pleased to share with you my extensive music background. I earned a pre-college Diploma from the Juilliard School. I have degrees in music from the Eastman School of Music (B.M. in Music History), Yale University (M.A. in Musicology), and Rutgers University (Ph.D. in Music Theory and Composition). My orchestral music has been performed by orchestras throughout the United States. I have multiple ASCAP Awards and commissions. I have taught music for over 25 years and just completed my career as a full Professor (with tenure) and the Core Curriculum Coordinator (Music Theory, Music History, and Ear-Training/Sight-Singing) for a liberal arts college in upstate New York. All of this is to say that I look forward to bringing a lot of experience into our lessons!

Whether you are learning music for a college degree or simply want to follow your passion, I offer instruction that will meet your needs. I have taught music theory and appreciation to non-music majors. I have also taught advanced studies in theory (including form and analysis and counterpoint) to music graduate students. At no matter what level you wish to learn, I draw upon a wealth of practical experience as a composer to bring your lessons to life and make them both relevant and engaging. Besides sharing my knowledge and experience with you, you can be assured that I teach with clarity and even with a sense of humor!
