About Jay
I am a concert pianist from Mumbai (India). I have a Masters degree in Piano Performance from the Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music in London, thanks to being awarded the British Council's Great Scholarship in 2016. I studied mainly with the Italian concert pianist Gabriele Baldocci , but also other artists who have inspired me a lot such as Pascal Rogé, Martha Fingerhut, Martino Turimo, Rolf Hind or Karl Lutchmayer, to name a few.
I won the first prize in the Con Brio Solo Piano Competition and performed in concert in classical, rock and pop styles for several private, corporate, wedding and fundraising events.
I also have a lot of experience as a pianist-accompanist. I have accompanied candidates for violin, vocals, bassoon and flute for exams up to Grade 8. I have also been the organist and pianist accompanist of the Bow Church choir in the south of France. east of London for a year.
I am currently based in Strasbourg and I teach music online (piano, music theory, composition, pop vocals, MAO) full time. I prepare students for internationally accredited ABRSM (Piano, music theory), Trinity (piano practical) & London College of Music (LCM) examinations.

In parallel with my concert career, I have been teaching piano and music theory for more than 10 years, and more recently the composition and use of MAO software (computer-assisted music). I integrate a wide range of musical styles into my teaching: classical, pop, rock, improvisation, blues and jazz - designing lessons according to the needs, learning styles, abilities and musical interests of my students .

Perfect! En plus d'être très doué, Jay est un professeur très sympathique avec un réel sens de la pédagogie. Je ne peux que vous le recommander. Il a pris le temps de cerner mes besoins, ce sur quoi je souhaitais m'améliorer pour façonner un cours "à la carte" ce qui est loin d'être le cas de tous les professeurs. Au-delà de l'apprentissage du piano, il m'aide à avancer concrètement dans mes projets personnels (sur mes compositions piano-voix) en ayant une vision à plus long-terme, en me donnant pleins de conseils intéressants, ce qui me pousse à atteindre mes objectifs. Je progresse tout en m'amusant pendant ces cours. Merci infiniment Jay !

Jay is a very nice teacher who has an acute sense of pedagogy. I can only recommend him! First he took the time to understand my needs, what I wanted to achieve in order to create "à la carte" courses, which is definitely not the case of all teachers. Beyond piano lessons, he really helps me to progress on my personal project (in particular on my compositions) with a long-term vision, giving me many pieces of advice that push me to achieve my objectives. Being a late adult beginner, I have been taking lessons with Jay for over a year now and I have made a significant progress in piano. Jay is very patient and his teaching is very methodical and fun at the same time. I learn something new and valuable every class, and he is the reason I am inspired to play music. I highly recommend Jay as a teacher!
J'ai rencontré Jay à Strasbourg dans le cadre d'une chorale. Comme il nous accompagnait souvent au piano, j'en ai profité pour lui demander de m'enseigner à jouer de cet instrument. Je souhaitais le faire depuis longtemps mais les différents professeurs avec lesquels j'avais travaillé m'avaient découragé.
Jay a réussi à me mettre à l'aise et surtout à ne pas me laisser baisser les bras. C'est un pédagogue patient et très enthousiaste. J'ai commencé à prendre des cours avec Jay il y a 5 mois. J'en suis plus que satisfaite. Il est très pédagogue, et essaie d'adapter au mieux ses cours aux besoins et envies de ses élèves. On organise mon cours en 1/4 d'exercices techniques (gammes, arpèges), 2/4 de travail sur morceaux (classiques principalement, car c'est ce que je veux travailler) et 1/4 de travail d'improvisation / composition au piano. On utilise MuseScore pour travailler la théorie / solfège, ce que je trouve super pratique à distance avec partage d'écran.
Enfin, Jay me prépare à l'examen Grade 7 de Trinity, qui est reconnu internationalement, et qui se fait par vidéo à distance en ce moment.
