About Lukasz
Praised by the Los Angeles Opus for his “liquid sensitivity” and “formidable power” as a soloist, and praised for his “discreet exactitude” as a collaborative pianist, Lukasz Yoder is an internationally recognized pianist, recording artist, and dedicated educator. Lukasz has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Puerto Rico in venues including Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City, the Steinway Society of Puerto Rico, the Działyński Palace in Poznań, and Żelazowa Wola—Frédéric Chopin’s birthplace. He has appeared as a soloist and collaborator in major concert series such as Music at a Mansion (Greystone Mansion, Beverly Hills), Noontime Concerts at Los Angeles City College, Classical Encounters, Music by the Sea, Modrzejewska Club Concerts, and Interludes Concert Series. A Grand Prize Winner of the Landsum International Music Festival, Lukasz is also a top prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, including the Kosciuszko Foundation National Chopin Competition (Washington, D.C.), Claudette Sorel International Piano Competition, Beverly Hills National Auditions, Classics Alive, Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Competition, Glendale Piano Competition, MTNA, CAPMT State Finals, and MTAC. He has recorded for Polish Radio and Television and has been featured in both Polish and American press. In recent seasons, Lukasz signed a recording contract with Malibu View Records and will release his debut album featuring works by Chopin, Scriabin, and Artur Malawski. He is also the founder of the Mansion Piano Concert Series, an innovative performance platform bringing classical music to new audiences through immersive, high-level concert experiences. Alongside his performing career, Lukasz is a highly experienced piano teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience. He works with students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced pre-professional pianists. His students have won top prizes at local, state, and national competitions, including MTAC, CAPMT, MTNA, and international festivals, and have been accepted into prestigious music programs and conservatories. Many of his students have also distinguished themselves through high-level recital performances, concerto competitions, and successful auditions. Lukasz’s teaching emphasizes technical fluency, musical imagination, stylistic integrity, and psychological resilience, drawing from both the European pedagogical tradition and modern performance science. His approach is highly individualized, balancing disciplined technical development with expressive freedom, score literacy, and long-term artistic growth. He is particularly known for his work in Chopin, Romantic repertoire, and performance preparation. Lukasz completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Inna Faliks on a full scholarship and is pursuing his Master of Music at UCLA, also on full scholarship. He continues to be mentored by his mother, Roza Kostrzewska Yoder, who trained him from early childhood. Having grown up homeschooled in a deeply musical household, Lukasz brings a rare blend of discipline, creativity, and real-world performance experience to his teaching. He is passionate about guiding students not only toward technical excellence, but toward a lifelong relationship with music.

My teaching is grounded in a holistic, individualized approach that adapts to each student’s background, goals, and learning style while remaining anchored in a clear and systematic framework. I place strong emphasis on healthy technique, sound production, and efficiency at the keyboard, helping students develop physical habits that support long-term control, clarity, and musical freedom. Technical work is always connected to musical intention, and lessons regularly integrate music theory, harmonic analysis, and historical context so that students understand not only how to play the music, but how it is constructed and why it works.
Lessons are structured yet flexible, responding to the student’s immediate needs while maintaining long-term direction. Work typically includes focused technical development, detailed repertoire study with attention to sound, articulation, and interpretation, and practical strategies for efficient and thoughtful practice. Students leave each lesson with clear priorities and concrete goals for the coming week.
I am a classically trained pianist, a winner of multiple national and international competitions, and have performed extensively in concert settings internationally. My experience as a performer directly informs my teaching, particularly in areas such as repertoire preparation, consistency, and performance confidence. What distinguishes my teaching is an emphasis on musical independence: rather than simply correcting errors, I help students understand the underlying causes of technical or musical issues so they can address them independently in their own practice.
I teach students of all ages and levels, from high-achieving and competitive pianists to adults returning to piano after time away, as well as complete beginners of any age. Lessons are well suited for students seeking a structured, thoughtful, and personalized approach to piano study, whether their goals involve advanced performance, academic preparation, or building a strong and durable musical foundation from the beginning.
