About Ilinca
I am student myself, working my way towards one day being a professional novelist and scriptwriter. I have taught English during my years before university to children, teenagers and my own peers up to A Level level. I hold an A* in Literature myself and I am doing a degree in Comparative Literature.
I have started teaching wishing to fill in the gaps teachers often aren’t able to in class— emotional, academic and confidence-related issues— that often rise during the years of college, under the burden of stress. I draw on my own experience and on that of each student, trying to offer them help that’s specific to their worries and concerns, instead of going over the areas they are confident in.
As well, academic counselling has been born from the same desire to offer help and guidance when one feels lost in the face of probably on of the biggest challenge in their life— choosing a career and taking the necessary steps to get there is sometimes daunting and complicated

I offer tutoring in English Literature A Level, focusing on understanding texts from a critic’s point of view, considering each of the school literature, helping students to be concise and unwavering in their expression, getting right to the point. I draw on my own experience from my exams and try to offer advice tailored to individual needs, whether that is working to enrich vocabulary, be more concise, better understand the meanings of texts and the arcs of character’s development. As well, I use literary movements to help students understand how history has influences authors, why do certain works must be analysed from different points of view and what is particular to every literary period.
In terms of academic counselling, this is my second year offering guidance to students who are applying at top universities, whether that is the UK, the US or European Countries such as Denmark, France, Belgium or the Netherlands. I walk students through the benefits of each country, what the applications consist of (in terms of personal statements, application platforms, needed volunteering or work experience and language certificates) and help them choose the most relevant experience to delve into in order to create a powerful personal statement. Likewise, I will be the person in contact with the universities, finding information needed to make an informed choice, such as fees, Accomodations, visa (if needed), exams and entry requirements, or the alternatives offered for students who haven’t chosen a classic route in their formal education.
So far, my applicants have secured places at KU Leuven, CBS Denmark, UCL, King’s College London,University of Lancaster,University of Leeds,
University of Bath, Warwick University, Loughborough University, University of Exeter in domains such as humanities, computer science, physics, astrophysics and business and economics.
