About Samantha
I am a 5th grade teacher in Northeast ISD with four years of experience! I also have taught three years of ESL, English as a Second Language. I have taught several hundred students, due to the fact that we are departmentalized and I teach only reading and language arts. Some years I also taught science, which I would be glad to tutor in also!

I prefer to tutor children 7th grade and younger, as that is the curriculum i am comfortable with and where my experience lies. I usually run my lessons as follows;
- first, we would start with guided instruction, I would model and provide thorough examples. During this time the student would be taking notes and observing.
- second, the student would begin doing the work with me monitoring and guiding them where needed. I would check for understanding, prompt, scaffold, etc.
- lastly, there would be an informal assessment. Whether that be a worksheet, quiz, task cards, etc. This would be done independently and I would "grade" it to see where the child is with that material and curriculum.
