Perfect! Ivonne is a uniquely gifted and talented teacher both technically and psychologically. 

I tried a few salsa teachers before Ivonne and was undecided which teacher I should choose long term because they were all good but nothing really distinguished one from the other. However after my first lesson with Ivonne I realised straight after that I will stick with her. 

I found she not only taught me new steps but also majorly refined the ones I already thought I was doing well lol. It turned out I was doing even the basic dancing like a robot with no soul or flare. No 'spice' or swagger lol.

Our first few lessons were fun but challenging. I was only able to dance alone and got super nervous when I had to dance in a pair. She quickly saw that it wasn't just the technicality of the dancing that was challenging me but also my confidence. For some reason, as soon as I had to dance in a pair I would get super nervous or over think or just panic and go blank. This is also one of the reasons I feared learning in a class with a group. I feared embarrassing myself.

However, she was super patient and found great ways to boost my confidence and also simplify the technicality of the moves so that I would actually be able do them naturally, fluently and spontaneously. 

I'm quite technically minded so sometimes I needed things to be explained at a more granular level, like how I should distribute and transfer my body weight from one foot to another and how to position my feet properly to help my body turn smoothly etc. Ivonne had plenty of patience to break these kinds of things down for me without making me feel stupid or incapable.

She is very good at motivating me like a sports coach does to a player to get them to perform at their best. She understands the psychological aspect very well and I can see she genuinely wants to see me grow and advance to new levels each lesson.

In addition to the dance tuition she has also introduced me to some fantastic salsa songs and allowed me to experience the joy of dancing to my all time favourite salsa songs that for many years I didn't have the ability to dance too. This is such an amazing feeling and a dream come true.

She's always smiling, always happy, always encouraging and always super professional. Always punctual and structured. Oh and sometimes she can even be hilarious with her witty jokes. She knows how to read the room perfectly.

I still have a long way to go. But if someone told me a few months ago that I would be able to dance at the level I have currently reached to my favourite songs I would have thought it would only be possible in my dreams. But it looks like these dreams are coming true. This has been an amazing experience also for my mental health. I sometimes feel too distracted or tired from work before my classes but I always leave feeling energised, overjoyed and uplifted after her lessons.

Ivonne is a rare and gifted teacher who I would obviously recommend for students of all levels.

I would also like to take a moment to directly thank her for the transformation I have experienced. It's genuinely been life changing and empowering.
