About Delphina

Hi, I’m Delphina, and I’m excited to help you start coding! I’ve been teaching programming for 7 years, and 5 of those have been live online. I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from Oklahoma State University and hold the Python Institute PCAP and Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer certifications. I completed Code.org’s teacher training for K-12 computer science. Before teaching full time, I worked for three years as a software developer at a Tulsa energy-technology company, building Python tools and writing SQL for pipeline reports. I’ve coached a high school robotics team, taught introductory programming as an adjunct instructor at Tulsa Community College and mentored students in a free after-school coding club. I’m proud of a nine-year-old who built a Scratch road-trip game for her cousins, of a high schooler who made a Route 66 travel website for her school’s history club and of an adult career changer who finished a portfolio of three working projects. Students tell me I’m patient, friendly and make coding feel doable.

Hello and welcome! I teach coding from kindergarten through 12th grade, plus college and adult learners, starting with Scratch and block coding for young beginners and moving on to Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and Java for older students. Students come to me for a school coding class, AP Computer Science, a game or website idea, a robotics or contest team, a college intro course or a skill for work, and if your language or topic isn’t listed, message me and I’ll tell you honestly how I can help. Lessons are live and one-on-one on Zoom or Google Meet with screen sharing, and each one opens with a Two-Minute Mystery, a short program with a surprising result for you to explain. Route 66 runs right through Tulsa, so our signature project is the Route 66 Road Trip Planner. You build a program that lists stops, adds up the miles and estimates the travel time, and you can grow it into a website or a game. You’ll also build a One-Page Cheat Sheet of your favorite code patterns, and once a month we hold a Career Corner chat about jobs that use coding. I teach in Central Time with early and evening slots for other US time zones, and a parent or guardian stays nearby for younger students. You need a computer with internet, and I’ll help you set up a free tool in the first lesson. To start, message me your grade or age and what you’d like to build. Your free trial lesson comes first.
