About Tim
You may view my acting CV here: (concealed information) My debut as an eleven-year-old actor was at The National Theatre. This life-changing experience set me up for a wonderful acting career, which spanned three decades and saw me appear alongside Rowan Atkinson, Rachel Weisz, Rik Mayall, Imelda Staunton, Bill Nighy, Felicity Kendal, and Gerard Butler, to name only a few. I also had the immense privilege to work for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks in the epic miniseries, Band of Brothers, adding to this already immense experience the rare honour of being directed by Tom Hanks himself. I appeared in first-class BBC drama series as a series regular on several occasions; I was cast alongside Lenny Henry in a season of his comedy series, Chef!; I appeared in three separate productions at The National Theatre, one of which was a new play by Tom Stoppard, directed by the legendary Trevor Nunn; I was nominated for Villain of the Year at The British Soap Awards; and I was cast as the son of some of the best in the business: Rik Mayall, Rowan Atkinson, and Pauline Collins. As you can imagine, these encounters were of incalculable value to me as an actor. Not only did my acting career furnish me with these priceless professional experiences, it also exploded my world into something unimaginably rich and varied, introducing me as it did to some truly unique individuals within a truly unique industry, many of whom were members of the crew or creative teams behind the scenes whose talent, experience, and perspective were every bit as remarkable as those onstage or onscreen. With each passing year, I marvel at the incommunicable richness of life-experience I was gifted during these years. I am still in touch with people in the industry, and count some as my close friends. They are actors, directors, producers, artistes, and writers. It continues to be a privilege to know them. Since becoming a peripatetic teacher, I have honed an approach to teaching which aims to understand individual students’ hopes and needs, as well as their practical expectations, to ensure there is a depth to our work together. Performing is about so much more than method. It requires some courage and much self-awareness, and good technical knowledge should be matched by the ability to do “archaeology of the self”. I have been teaching the LAMDA Examinations syllabi for over twelve years now, and have helped hundreds of young people through the exams process - the overwhelming majority achieving Pass with Distinction along the way - so I am very well-versed in all things LAMDA, and I am constantly trying to find new ways to broaden my students' understanding of the acting process. In addition to my commitment to continuing in this vein, I am also excited to work with adult-aged performers of all abilities.

If you need to prepare for a LAMDA exam I will set you at ease about the whole process while building your confidence in creating a character and applying reliable, simple techniques. We can explore the texts together to ensure your understanding, which will form the bedrock of the process. If you are struggling to break out of restrictive patterns in your performances, I will work with you to discover what you need and what might be holding you back from making real progress. I am sensitive to my students' needs and abilities, and seek to find ways to work with these towards realistic goals. While technique is important, you are a whole person whose abilities exist within this whole.
