About Cerys

I have over 5 years' experience teaching students from all backgrounds and all learning styles. I tailor my lessons to each student and what they need so that they can get the most out of every lesson and come away feeling confident and in love with their studies. I had tutors all throughout my studies and I would not have achieved A*'s without them. I hope to unlock a love and a passion for learning that schools so often ignore. My students enjoy their lessons because I listen to them and what they need, I want them to enjoy learning! I have tutored students with learning disabilities, a lack of interest, every kind of student imaginable and have always managed to unlock potential in each because it matters a lot to me that my students reach their fullest potential. I am a Classics student at Durham University, who has just completed A-Levels in English, History and Classical Civilisations. I have experience being both tutored and have guided many younger students at school for over 2 years, who have gone on to love the subject and achieve high grades. Aside from studying Classics, History and English, I have gained practical experience in my subjects by immersing myself through trips to Greece, Rome, The British Museum and Russia, which has allowed me to gain more appreciation for my subjects by physically understanding and viewing the artefacts and places in the textbooks.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to inspire, motivate and encourage real experiential interest from a younger, more relatable perspective, whilst still developing the traditional skills necessary to pass exams. In order for the student to gain the most out of our sessions, I like to allow them to guide me on the areas that they feel need the most help through a traffic light system, so I can understand where they feel most and least confident. I can tutor up to GCSE level and hope to bring enjoyment that encourages people to spend time on their subjects by developing a real interest, instead of feeling as though it is a chore.
