About Thalia
My name is Thalia and my aim is to share my love for the piano with you!
My musical journey began as a child at the Geneva Conservatoire in Switzerland, where I grew up. It was there that I met my mentor, Claude-Anne Schaeppi, whose guidance shaped my lifelong devotion to the instrument and ignited my passion for teaching.
At 17, I started my study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in Australia, beginning an intense eight-year chapter of rigorous training. I completed my Bachelor’s degree with Honours in 2017, followed by a Doctorate in Musicology in 2022. My doctoral thesis explored the legacy of patron and publisher Louise Hanson-Dyer and her support of women artists—a project that allowed me to conduct archival research across Paris, Melbourne, and England, and to share my findings at international conferences throughout Europe and Australia.
After a decade dedicated to full-time study and teaching, I spent two years travelling through the Balkans, Indonesia, and Europe. This sabbatical was a transformative chapter of self-discovery; it allowed me to step back, gain new perspectives, and return to music with a refreshed outlook and a deeper sense of purpose.
In 2025, I moved to England and established my own teaching studio. Based in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, I now offer both in-person and online lessons for children and adults alike. In my studio, I take a holistic and gentle approach to education. I believe in teaching methods that prioritise an individual’s well-being, ensuring that technical progress is always grounded in a genuine, lasting connection to the art form. My goal is to empower my students to reach their full potential in an environment that is as encouraging and warm as it is academically rigorous.

Piano Lessons
From beginners to advanced pianists and whether you are playing for pleasure or preparing for exams, I tailor our lessons to your unique goals. Together, we will build a robust technical foundation at a pace that feels right for you.

-Professional Studio: Lessons are held in a calm, focused environment on a Yamaha GB1K baby grand piano, with premium audio and visual equipment for remote learners which show face, hand, side and pedal view.
-Diverse Repertoire: Explore a tailored mix of Classical, jazz, and contemporary styles based on your musical interests.
-Inclusive & Neurodivergent Friendly: Experience in adapting teaching methods to support each learner's unique needs.
