About Mary
Mary Donnelly is an emerging Irish soprano and musician and a recent graduate of Music, with a minor in English, at University College Cork. She trains at the MTU Cork School of Music under Majella Cullagh.
Mary is a participant in Opera Lab at MTU Cork School of Music, working under Gavan Ring, Gary Beecher and Ciarán Bermingham. Her performance experience includes staged opera projects, choral work and ensemble collaborations through Opera Lab and the Irish Youth Choir with Sing Ireland.
She has performed in venues including Christ Church Cathedral Dublin and the National Concert Hall Dublin (workshop in May 2026 with IYC and Eric Whitacre) She is also a competition performer, most recently winning the Thomas Moore Cup at Feis Maitiú 2026.
Alongside her vocal work, Mary is a classical violinist and fiddle player, and studied with Matt Cranitch at UCC. She performs with the Youghal String Ensemble and has been involved in musical theatre and festival work, including the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
Mary is an active performer across singing and instrumental music and continues to develop her career through performance, teaching, collaboration and ongoing training.

I take a supportive, student-led approach to teaching, focusing on building confidence, strong technique and enjoyment in music. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. Typical lesson length is 30–60 minutes. I am a BA Music (major) and English (minor) graduate from UCC with classical vocal training at MTU Cork School of Music and over 15 years of violin experience, alongside experience performing and teaching music. Lessons are suitable for children, teenagers and adults from beginner to advanced level.
