About Colette
I am a chess tutor with 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and Game Theory. My fascination with chess comes from its blend of logic, psychology, creativity, and deep strategic structure. Teaching chess allows me to help students strengthen their thinking skills while also enjoying the beauty of the game. I work with learners who want to improve casually, compete seriously, or simply sharpen their mental clarity through chess.
My approach emphasizes understanding over memorization. I guide students in learning how to evaluate positions, recognize tactical opportunities, and create long-term plans with confidence. I enjoy helping learners develop resilience after mistakes, because chess improvement requires patience and reflection. Many students discover that chess builds emotional steadiness and stronger decision-making skills that transfer into academics and everyday life. I aim to create a calm, motivating environment where students feel supported in growing step by step.
Outside teaching, I continue studying chess through game analysis, strategy research, and exploration of cognitive learning methods. Watching students become more confident thinkers is deeply rewarding. My goal is to help you approach chess with clarity, courage, and curiosity. Together, we can build strategic strength and enjoy the intellectual adventure that chess offers.

My chess lessons focus on helping students understand chess as both a logical discipline and a creative mental art. I teach learners how to build strong foundations through opening principles, tactical awareness, positional planning, and endgame clarity. Each lesson is structured but encouraging, helping students feel supported as they improve their decision-making skills. I focus on pattern recognition, calm calculation, and learning how to think several moves ahead without feeling overwhelmed.
As students progress, we explore deeper strategic themes such as pawn structure, piece coordination, attack planning, and defensive resilience. Beginners learn basic checkmates, tactical motifs, and confidence in simple games. Intermediate learners strengthen calculation habits, improve positional understanding, and develop stronger planning skills. Advanced learners work on tournament preparation, psychological steadiness, time management, and analysis of master-level games. I provide consistent feedback so learners understand not only what move is best, but why it works.
Chess teaches patience, emotional control, and mental discipline. My goal is to help students grow beyond winning games, developing stronger focus and self-belief. Over time, learners approach challenges with more calm and structured reasoning. Each session builds confidence, sharper thinking, and strategic independence. Chess becomes not just a game, but a lifelong tool for intellectual growth.
