About Shane
I hold a B.Sc in Chemistry and an M.Sc in Organic Chemistry, which provided me with an in-depth understanding of chemical principles, laboratory methods, and reaction mechanisms. Over 9 years of teaching, I have supported learners in mastering theoretical concepts and practical applications while fostering confidence and analytical skills. My teaching emphasizes clarity, patient guidance, and hands-on learning to ensure concepts are fully understood and retained. I adapt lessons to individual needs, using demonstrations, interactive exercises, and practical examples to encourage curiosity, reasoning, and critical thinking. My lessons cover reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, and laboratory methods. I employ step-by-step explanations, interactive exercises, visual aids, and real-life examples to ensure conceptual understanding and practical skill development. Each session fosters analytical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity while providing a supportive environment for learners to ask questions and engage deeply with content.
Beginners focus on foundational topics such as atomic structure, basic reactions, stoichiometry, and chemical nomenclature to build confidence. Intermediate learners explore reaction pathways, equilibrium, thermodynamics, and titration techniques, enhancing both conceptual knowledge and practical abilities. Advanced learners tackle complex organic mechanisms, laboratory analysis, spectroscopy, and advanced problem-solving, integrating theoretical understanding with hands-on skills.
