About Alexis
My interest in chemistry began with curiosity about how substances interact and transform under different conditions. This curiosity guided me toward completing a B.Sc in Chemistry, where I developed a deep understanding of chemical principles and laboratory reasoning. Over 9 years of teaching, I have supported students through challenging topics by emphasizing clarity, structure, and steady confidence building.
I approach chemistry teaching with patience and empathy, recognizing that many students struggle due to gaps in foundational understanding rather than lack of ability. My teaching style focuses on identifying misconceptions, simplifying explanations, and reinforcing learning through structured practice. I use visual aids, real-life examples, and repeated concept checks to help students internalize ideas and feel secure in their understanding.
Beyond teaching, I stay engaged with chemistry through academic reading, curriculum review, and exploring new instructional strategies. This continuous engagement allows me to refine my lessons and remain responsive to changing educational needs. Teaching chemistry is meaningful to me because I see students transform from uncertainty into clarity and confidence. Supporting learners as they develop scientific reasoning and trust in their analytical abilities is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.

Chemistry becomes less intimidating when students understand the logic that connects concepts rather than memorizing isolated facts. My lessons focus on developing strong foundations across atomic structure, chemical bonding, reactions, stoichiometry, acids and bases, and introductory organic chemistry. I explain topics using step-by-step reasoning, visual models, and practical examples that help learners relate abstract ideas to real-world phenomena.
Lesson structure is adapted to each student’s academic level. Beginners focus on symbols, basic concepts, and simple calculations with guided practice. Intermediate learners strengthen problem-solving skills, equation balancing, and conceptual interpretation. Advanced students work on exam technique, data-based questions, multi-step calculations, and clear written explanations. Each lesson integrates practice questions, corrections, and conceptual reinforcement to ensure lasting understanding.
Chemistry lessons also develop precision, analytical thinking, and scientific discipline. As understanding improves, students approach problems with greater confidence and reduced anxiety. My goal is to help learners view chemistry as a logical and fascinating subject while building a strong foundation for future scientific study.
