About Lily
Hello! I am a graduate from the International TEFL Academy and hold a 120-hour, accredited TEFL Certificate. I'm currently enrolled in Purdue University Fort Wayne’s TENL Program and am also pursuing a degree in English. My experience includes private tutoring and working with a local charity to provide ESL services to refugees. I have also taught a semester-long virtual conversational English class to students from Myanmar. I'm comfortable with low-level learners and can adapt to each learner’s needs and goals. If a student is unsure of what they specifically want to work on, I guide the lessons with carefully prepared and selected materials. My teaching style is encouraging, patient, and student-centered. I believe that motivation is essential to learning, and I take care to inspire confidence and a desire to improve with my students.

After an initial needs assessment, lessons are creatively designed to meet you at your level. Each lesson, student will work towards an achievable objective in line with overall goals, focusing on one or more English skills: speaking, listening, reading, or writing.
My experience with private tutoring and refugees has equipped me to meet people at their level, whatever it may be.
The classroom environment is upbeat, patient, encouraging, and student-centered. I love getting to know my students! I believe that building relationships is essential to a successful learning environment.
