About Yuka
About me
Hi everyone! I’m Yuka, born and raised in Japan and now living in the United States. People often describe me as patient and cheerful, qualities I cherish in my teaching. I’ve practiced Kendo (Japanese martial arts) for 15 years, starting when I was just 3 years old, and that experience has really shaped my personality and approach to teaching. In my free time, I also love cooking and often try new cuisines. Living in the U.S. encourages me to experiment with new recipes, which is so much fun and helps me get to know different cultures through cooking. I’m excited to share my culture and language with you all!
Me as a teacher
Since 2019, I’ve been teaching Japanese both online and in-person, covering everything from everyday conversations to business discussions. My background in HR also allows me to help with formal business communication. I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language—I’ve experienced it myself with English. That’s why I’m dedicated to supporting and motivating you every step of the way.
My students often tell me they enjoy my classes because I’m patient and make learning fun. I focus on active participation and our progress together. Let’s make your Japanese learning journey an enjoyable one!

With the help of original supplementary materials, you will see your conversational skills improve rapidly. I also offer lessons tailored to your goals, whether it's improving conversational skills, learning business Japanese, or preparing for interviews. Perfect! Yuka is a very patient and efficient teacher! She is very effective in teaching vocabulary quickly, and she uses great visual methods to teach, as well! She also has a great energy when teaching! Her energy lights up the room to create a very comfortable and relaxing learning environment!

I just wrapped up Yuka’s one-on-one online Japanese class, and I can’t say enough good things about it! If you’re looking to improve your speaking skills, this is the place to be. Yuka uses original materials based on Minna no Nihongo, which made everything super relatable and fun.
What I loved most is how personal the lessons felt. Yuka tailored everything to my interests, making it easy to stay engaged. From our very first session, she encouraged me to jump right in and speak, which really helped me build confidence. Plus, the relaxed atmosphere meant I never felt shy about making mistakes!
