About Maya
I am a licensed elementary educator with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and 4 years of classroom experience working with diverse learners. I specialize in helping students build strong academic foundations in reading, writing, and math while also developing confidence and independence as learners.
My teaching is rooted in relationship building, structure, and encouragement. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take time to identify individual strengths, learning gaps, and the strategies that will help each child succeed. My goal is not only to improve academic performance, but also to help students feel confident, motivated, and proud of their progress.

As a licensed elementary teacher with a Master’s in Elementary Education, I specialize in creating engaging, structured, and highly individualized learning experiences for students in grades K–5. My approach is rooted in building confidence first, because I believe academic success grows when students feel capable, supported, and understood.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I use a blend of research-based instructional strategies, including:
Explicit, step-by-step instruction for foundational skills
Multi-sensory learning techniques (visual, auditory, and hands-on approaches)
Guided practice with gradual release to independence
Positive reinforcement to build confidence and motivation
Differentiation based on each student’s unique learning style and needs
Each session is structured but flexible based on student needs:
Quick check-in & skill review (5–10 min) – warm-up problems or reading fluency practice
Targeted skill instruction (15–20 min) – introducing or reteaching a specific concept
Guided practice (15–20 min) – working through problems together with support
Independent practice (10–15 min) – student demonstrates understanding
Wrap-up & feedback (5 min) – review progress and set goals for next session

I have known Maya since she was a baby, as she is my younger sister.
Maya has always had a special love for children. As a toddler she always had a baby doll that she would carry around with her, taking care of it as if it was a real baby. She started babysitting as young as 10 or 11 years old and continued on even through college.
She has been a 3rd grade teacher for a few years now, and not a day goes by where she doesn't pour her heart out into teaching her students.
The moment she smiles and laughs, the kids fall in love with her energy and are so eager to see what she will bring to the learning table.
Maya is super engaging, clear and concise; She makes her lessons fun while still being loaded with the fundamentals of core values and education. The kids never leave not having learned anything from her.
