About Shakti
I am a fun and engaging BC certified teacher who has been teaching elementary school for the past 5 years. I have taught multiple ages and children with learning exceptionalities on how to read and write. As well as upgrading their literacy skills. I completed my Bachelors of Education from the University of British Columbia with a certificate from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). I have a Masters in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Special Education. I am in the process of obtaining an Orton Gillingham Practitioner license. When learning how to read and write consistency is key. Tutoring provides the student with the opportunity to master the literacy skills that they are missing in order to read and write with confidence.

My reading approach is multi sensory, systematic, and sequential. Every student is assessed and then a unique program is developed for them. I teach students using phonological and phonemic awareness to fully understand how to read and write. I meet students where they are and build off their previous knoweldge. Through this, the students develop their confidence and enjoy the process of learning how to read and write. I teach all ages and specialize in the foundations of reading and writing.
