About Hayley
Hi there! My name is Hayley and I'm an English teacher turned stay-at-home mom who's passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals. I offer tutoring services in all areas of English, from grammar and syntax to literature analysis and essay writing. I also love to work with students who are trying to improve their creative writing skills!
I have a Master's degree in English and Creative writing and I have spent the last 8 years in middle school and high school ELA classrooms so you can rest assured that I have the knowledge and experience necessary to guide you towards success. But don't worry, I'm not one of those teachers who expects everyone to LOVE reading and to fan girl over Harry Potter like I do. I understand that reading and writing is not something everyone excels at, and that's why you're here! Reaching out for help is the first great step towards success and I'd love to help you get to where you're trying to go...and maybe get you to enjoy reading at least ONE book too ;)

As a tutor, I believe in a personalized approach that caters to the specific needs of each student. After first assessing the needs of my students, I prefer to deliver lessons in a scaffolded way - this involves breaking down complex concepts into bite-sized pieces that are easy to understand. I also encourage active participation and engagement from my students to ensure they grasp the material thoroughly.
A typical lesson plan starts with a quick review of previous lessons and any questions the student may have. Then, we move on to the new material, where I explain the concept and provide examples to clarify it. Finally, we end the lesson with a recap and an opportunity for the students to practice using what we have learned or to discuss their takeaways from the lesson.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my dedication to my students, and the work I put into my lessons so that the content is engaging, relevant, and personalized to the interests of my students. I make sure to go the extra mile to ensure that they understand the material and feel confident in their abilities.
