About Kerry
I am a qualified and dedicated Intermediate Phase teacher with experience teaching English to Grades 4 and 5. I am passionate about helping children grow in confidence and realise that English does not have to feel difficult or overwhelming.
I became a teacher because I genuinely enjoy encouraging young minds and helping learners experience that wonderful moment when something finally makes sense. I am patient, approachable and supportive, and I believe every learner can improve when concepts are explained in a way that suits their individual needs. Teaching is not simply my profession; it is something I truly care about.

My lessons are individually planned around each learner’s specific needs, learning pace and areas of difficulty. As an experienced Intermediate Phase English teacher, I understand the CAPS curriculum and the skills learners are expected to master in the classroom and during assessments.
I begin by identifying the learner’s strengths and gaps, then provide focused support through clear explanations, guided practice and engaging activities. Lessons may include reading and comprehension, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, creative writing, homework support and assessment preparation.
I create and adapt my own learning materials instead of using the same lesson for every learner. My approach is patient, encouraging and structured, helping learners understand their mistakes without feeling embarrassed or overwhelmed. I also provide parents with honest feedback about progress and areas that still require attention.
My goal is not simply to help learners complete their homework, but to strengthen their understanding, confidence and ability to work independently.
