About Finley
I am a recent Cambridge Undergraduate, having spent the past three years studying the Natural Sciences course I have gained both a breadth and depth of knowledge in both Biology and Chemistry. I have been tutoring throughout my degree in both GCSE and A level Biology/Chemistry so I understand the areas that students often find particularly difficult. I have also read extensively on techniques that are proven to increase understanding and recall of important information which I coach students on as well.

I take a personalised and interactive approach to lessons, starting with getting to know the areas that students are struggling with to guide future sessions via a tailored lesson plan. Lessons are typically an hour and ten minutes long which allows for a break in the middle of the sessions to regain some focus and concentration. I employ visual aids wherever possible and provide useful material to solidify understanding outside of lessons, such as flashcards and extra questions, tailored to the type of content being taught. I also emphasise the importance of foundational knowledge during sessions so that students can securely grasp more complex concepts and apply them in the future.

Fin tutored me in chemistry and maths A level and was honestly great. He helped me get an A* in both subjects that I otherwise wouldn’t have got. He was very patient when I didn’t get topics and would work through content logically in steps that were easier to understand.
Finley has been tutoring my daughter for 1.5 years now in both chemistry and biology A level content as we are very glad we have him! He's been great for improving my daughter's confidence, especially with mathsy content that she was particularly anxious about, and is always approachable and friendly in and out of lessons.
