Sobhan has over eight years of experience teaching undergraduate, MSc and PhD students at leading universities and research centres. His teaching is highly personalised and project-driven, combining strong theoretical foundations with hands-on, practical training in medical and brain imaging. He teaches fMRI, MRI, EEG, DTI and ASL using industry-standard tools such as FSL, AFNI, FreeSurfer, SPM and CONN, alongside advanced data analysis in MATLAB and Python. Lessons also cover machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, connectomics, brain mapping and the study of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Sessions typically last 60 to 120 minutes and are tailored to each student’s background and goals, whether preparing for exams, dissertations, research projects or high-impact scientific publications.
Recommendations

Sobhan supported me through several stages of my research, including study design, statistical analysis, and preparation of results for publication. His feedback was always constructive and focused on improving scientific clarity and rigor. Highly recommended!
I needed targeted help with my fMRI and sMRI analysis in a short time frame. Sobhan quickly understood my problem and provided clear, actionable guidance. Our sessions were efficient and focused, and I achieved what I needed.
Sobhan has a rare ability to connect clinical medicine with advanced AI and neuroscience. As someone working in emergency medicine, I found his perspective incredibly valuable. He understands real clinical constraints and translates complex AI and neuroimaging methods into tools that actually make sense in a medical context. This combination is extremely rare.
When I first started working with Sobhan, brain connectivity analysis felt overwhelming. He broke complex concepts, like functional connectivity, network metrics, and interpretation of results into simple, logical steps. By the end, I was confidently analyzing my own data and understanding the neuroscience behind it. His mentorship genuinely changed how I approach research and investigated my data.
Sobhan is not just knowledgeable — he is extremely practical. I worked with him on a neuroimaging project where I was struggling to move from theory to implementation, and his support completely changed that.
He helped me structure my analysis pipeline, understand the reasoning behind each step, and apply machine learning methods appropriately rather than blindly. Thanks to his mentoring, I was able to complete my analysis confidently and on time.
If you want someone who actually helps you get things done, Sobhan is an excellent choice.I had the opportunity to work with Sobhan during my both undergraduate and postgraduate research, and his guidance was genuinely invaluable. He has a rare ability to explain complex neuroimaging and machine learning concepts in a clear, structured, and practical way. What really stood out was his deep understanding of fMRI pipelines and statistical analysis, combined with a strong awareness of what is required for publishable research. His mentoring helped me avoid common methodological mistakes and significantly improved the quality of my work.
I worked with Sobhan during my postgraduate research, and his guidance was extremely valuable. He has a rare ability to explain complex neuroimaging and machine learning concepts clearly and practically. His support with MRI/fMRI analysis, statistics, and research design helped me structure my work properly and avoid common mistakes. What really sets him apart is his strong academic background combined with hands-on technical skills. I would highly recommend him to MSc or PhD students looking for serious, research-level mentoring.
