About Michela
Hi,
My name is Michela, I am a 27-year-old Italian girl and I am currently working as a researcher at the department of Aeronautics of Imperial College, where I've completed my PhD in August 2020. I’ve graduated in June 2016 with a Distinction in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
I am very passionate about STEM subjects and I love to share my passion with younger students helping them achieve their goals. I know that these subjects can be a little tricky and I will be there to provide support when needed.
I have some previous tutoring experience in Maths, Physics and for interview preparation for university admissions, and I’ve worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Imperial College (this mainly involved lab demonstrations and group tutorials). Back in Cambridge, I have been involved in setting up a student-led society aiming at inspiring secondary school students in Middle Eastern countries to study STEM subjects at University and I was part of the Outreach team of Engineers Without Borders Cambridge. Finally, when I was in Italy, I taught Italian to African refugees.
I understand that each person learns in a slightly different way and I always make individual plans for each of my students, with clear schedules to make sure we do everything on time and so that we can check the progress. Even if I have some previous experience, I am very open to suggestions and constructive criticism, and I am happy to change my plan and method if required. What I am really interested in is creating a relaxed but professional environment where the student’s potential can be fully disclosed.
