About Sophie
I hold an MPhil in Russian Studies and first class degree in French and Russian from Cambridge University. I have worked as a personal French tutor (A-level) for over 30 hours, and as an interpreter for the Opéra Comique, Paris, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
I also hold an MA in creative writing (Operamakers MA) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I am currently a Junior Fellow.I have worked as a creative writing tutor and undergraduate-level lecturer at the Guildhall School and Royal College of Music to groups of 15 students for 40+hrs.
I studied the cello at the St Petersburg Conservatoire and hold a Grade 8 with Distinction (ABRSM) on the 'cello and piano. I have taught pupils aged 6 to 76.

I believe that if you can spark a student's enthusiasm in a subject, then a positive learning experience will follow. Based on this belief, I aim to tailor lessons to the student's interests and enthusiasms. By balancing the essentials (grammar and vocab drills when tutoring languages) with creative, cross-cultural approaches to the curriculum (using music and songs to learn vocabulary), I strive to encourage a love of learning.
