This passion led me to complete a Master of Biostatistics, where I used advanced math every day to solve real-world health problems. But what excites me even more is getting to share that power with you. Why I Love to Teach I chose teaching because I remember what it was like to feel stuck. I believe mathematics is about understanding a new language of logic and could be fun to learn. My goal is not only to improve grades but, more importantly, to build students' confidence by building solid foundation, and eventually cultivate their problem-solving skills.
My Teaching Methodology & Techniques:
• Diagnostic Assessment: Every tutoring relationship begins with a deep dive to identify a student's specific knowledge gaps and root causes of confusion. We don't just do practice papers; we solve the underlying problems.
• Personalised Learning Paths: Based on the assessment, I create a customised learning plan for each student, ensuring every session is targeted and efficient.
• Concept-First Focus: I prioritize explaining the "why" behind the "how." I use real-world examples, visual aids, and relatable analogies to make abstract concepts tangible and easier to grasp.
• Guided Questioning: I use a series of carefully crafted questions to guide students toward discovering the solution path themselves, building their critical thinking and independent learning skills.
• Strategic Practice: We focus on practicing the most impactful problems that reinforce concepts, avoiding mindless drills to make the best use of your child's time.
Typical Lesson Length:
• My standard lesson is 60 minutes. This duration is ideal for maintaining focus while allowing sufficient time for concept explanation, interactive practice, and immediate feedback.
• I also offer 90-minute sessions for students preparing for exams or those who need more in-depth support.
My Qualifications & Experience:
• I hold a Master's Degree in Statistics, providing a strong foundational knowledge in mathematics.
• I have over 5+ years of experience in one-on-one tutoring, specialising in students from Prep to Year 7.
• I am highly familiar with the Australian Mathematics Curriculum and ensure my teaching is always aligned with school requirements.
• I am skilled at communicating with children in this age group, using patience and proven methods to spark their interest in learning.
