About CJ
I’m CJ, a qualified primary teacher with five years’ experience teaching Key Stage 2 classes in London and Leeds. Before this, I taught English to children and adults in France, Italy and Canada.
Working with pupils from different backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs has taught me the value of patience, clear explanations and thoughtful encouragement. I take time to understand what each pupil can already do so that I can better help them make steps forward. I take my pupils' progress seriously and share in their joy when they feel more able, confident and keen to learn more.
Outside teaching, I love watching films, learning languages, cooking and practising yoga. I’m also very fond of my cat, who may make an occasional appearance during our online sessions!

I offer focused online English tuition for Key Stage 2 pupils aged 7–11, drawing on five years' experience as a qualified primary class teacher in Years 4 and 5.
In our English sessions, we might build sentences together, improve a piece of writing or explore a short text to practise reading comprehension. Grammar and punctuation are taught through meaningful and engaging examples.
My approach typically moves from “I’ll show you how” to “let’s try together” and then “your turn”. This enables me to identify where a pupil needs more examples, an explanation from a different angle, or encouragement to build on what they can already do. My aim is for pupils to leave each lesson knowing more and able to do more independently.
I keep each session focused on a manageable goal, revisit previous learning, and give specific feedback that helps pupils understand how to improve.
