About Christopher

I bring over a decade of experience supporting learners through writing, reading, and academic growth. I’ve taught and mentored students at the college level, guided hundreds of essays, and helped writers strengthen their clarity, confidence, and voice. My approach is patient, structured, and grounded in genuine respect for each student’s pace and goals. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychological Research and am currently a doctoral student at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where I continue to study how people learn, think, and express themselves. This background allows me to offer feedback that is both academically rigorous and deeply supportive. Students can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a learning environment where they feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Whether you’re preparing for a class assignment, developing stronger writing skills, or working on long-term academic goals, I’m committed to helping you succeed with clarity and confidence.

I start with where you are. Every learner brings a unique mix of strengths, questions, and lived experience, so my teaching is flexible, goal‑oriented, and grounded in genuine dialogue. I work with students to clarify what they want to improve—writing, reading comprehension, critical thinking, organization—and then we build a path that feels both structured and spacious.

My method blends reflective conversation, guided practice, and clear, actionable feedback. I help students understand not just what to do, but why it works, so they develop confidence and independence in their own voice.

Teaching Method & Techniques:

Dialogic learning: We think out loud together, exploring ideas through conversation.

Scaffolded writing support: Breaking assignments into manageable steps—brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising.

Close reading strategies: Learning how to analyze literature, identify themes, and build strong interpretations.

Feedback that teaches: I offer specific, constructive notes that help students grow rather than just “fix” errors.

Metacognitive reflection: Students learn to notice their own patterns, strengths, and habits as writers and readers.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Check‑in: What are we working on today? What’s the immediate goal?

Warm‑up: A short prompt, reading, or discussion to activate thinking.

Core work:

Writing: brainstorming, drafting, editing, or refining an argument

Reading: analyzing a passage, discussing themes, or preparing for an essay

Skill focus: A targeted mini‑lesson (thesis building, transitions, evidence integration, etc.)

Reflection: What clicked today? What’s the next step?

Takeaway: A clear, doable task to continue progress between sessions.
