About Mallika
I'm Mallika, a Computer Science undergraduate at BITS Pilani, and I've been the person friends and classmates come to with "wait, can you explain this one bit again" for years now. At my institute I also lead ARC, where I mentor incoming juniors through their first year, so a good part of my week is already spent teaching people who are finding something difficult.
My own background is technical. I build machine learning systems, including a deep learning framework I wrote from scratch, which means the calculus, probability, and linear algebra I teach are things I actually use rather than topics I once revised for an exam. I've also worked with an education-access NGO in Delhi and interned with an ed-tech platform, so I've spent time thinking about why explanations land for some students and not others.
What you can expect from me: I turn up on time and prepared, I plan sessions around what you're stuck on rather than marching through a fixed syllabus, and I'll tell you honestly if a topic falls outside what I can teach well. If something isn't clicking, I treat that as my problem to solve, not yours. I'd much rather spend an extra session on foundations than push ahead and leave you nodding along.
I'm patient, I don't rush, and no question is too basic to ask me.

English
Most people learning English in India don't have a vocabulary problem. They have a confidence problem and a structure problem. They know more words than they use, and they've been taught grammar as a list of rules to memorize rather than as something that makes writing clearer. My teaching starts from there.
How I teach
First session, I ask you to write something short and talk to me for a few minutes, so I can hear where you actually are rather than guessing. Almost everyone has a small number of recurring patterns, articles, tenses, prepositions, sentence length, and fixing three of those changes how you sound more than a year of vocabulary lists would.
I teach grammar through your own sentences rather than through textbook examples. When I correct something, I explain why it was wrong, because a rule you understand transfers to the next sentence and a rule you memorize doesn't.
How a session usually runs
We start with speaking, because that's the part most students avoid and therefore the part that improves slowest. Then we work on one focused area of grammar or structure, using errors from your own writing. Then we build something: an essay paragraph, an email, an answer to an interview question, a section of an application. You write between sessions and I give written feedback on it, which is where most of the actual progress happens.
What I bring
I write in English at a high level under real stakes. Applications to competitive programs, cold emails to founders, technical documentation, project write-ups. I'm not teaching you English from a syllabus, I'm teaching you the version of it that gets replies, gets marks, and gets you through interviews.
I also grew up learning English alongside another language, so I know exactly which constructions trip Indian students up and why, including the ones that sound fine to us and land oddly to everyone else.
Who these classes are for
School students in Classes 8 to 12 working on English language and literature, including board preparation. College students who need help with essays, reports, presentations, and applications. And working professionals who understand English perfectly well but freeze in meetings, interviews, or written communication, where the goal is fluency and confidence rather than grammar from scratch.
I'm patient, I don't correct people mid-sentence, and I won't make you feel small about your English.
