About Ayilar
As a student who has experienced the recent biology GCSE and A-level content and exams, I have a complete understanding of the challenges students face in biology. The skills required in biology are quite unexpected, and I find that most people struggle with learning and memorising content, and knowing what the mark scheme expected. In my years of experience both learning how to overcome these challenges myself, and teaching others to overcome theirs, I truly believe that anyone can achieve their target goals with a bit of strategy and dedication. I am proud to have watched my students advance from combined to triple science, their grades improve drastically as well as their confidence in asking questions and discovering their favourite revision strategies. I plan my lessons with a lot of thought and I truly love teaching biology, as it progressed from being my least favourite science to my favourite!

My lessons are highly organised and tailored to each student. The most important skill in biology is the exam technique so the majority of the lesson is spent practising exam questions. I keep track of all the topics I cover with my students and include these in future lessons, particularly as starter activities, as a form of active recall to help with memorisation. My teaching is flexible and I may include more content coverage in lessons or more exam techniques, depending on what you require. I always prepare multiple resources to keep the lesson flexible, and I like to encourage every student to ask all the questions they have during and outside of lessons, as curiosity is what makes learning an active, effective process! I try to ensure my lessons feel like a safe space for students to ask questions and tell me when they are unsure.
