About Zainab
My name is Zainab Lawal, I am currently a student who one day aspires to be a doctor. I have not always been academically brilliant, over the years I have struggled a lot to keep up on my own having to share a teacher with many other people so i was not able to always have confidence in my skills and ability. I am 20 years old and over the years I have met teenagers and young adults who have found themselves in the same predicament I have been in. They all aspired to be brilliant but felt their grades did not reflect their dedication and ambitions they had which sometimes deters them from continuing on that path. I am a passionate person when it comes to supporting others and people around me. I believe with the right effort and facilities around you, you can achieve what you need and want. A lot of teenagers who are in secondary school have the resources but lack the knowledge in how to use them and how to make it easier, this is something normal and i myself have been there. I will come in and personalise learning to make it more approachable and less taunting to the eye and brain. Im a very energetic person I love to make lessons fun and meaningful so it is not simply a teacher doing their job but it is a genuine relationship with someone wanting you to succeed and has been in the position of failure so understands that fear. I am their to motivate but also be someone who isn't simply there to teach you the whole curriculum but to teach what you need to know and not waste time.

I like to have a personal approach with my students in order for me to know how i will approach a lesson. I believe every individual cannot be taught in the same way for effective results so personal tutoring helps me cater my lessons around my students. I like to start by engaging them with topics that they may feel more comfortable with, the first lesson will normally consolidate their existing knowledge. This process allows me to get them comfortable so they do not feel like they just simply don't know anything. It has been proven that student learn better when they are engaged in the chosen subject. After the first lesson i will then introduce them to more challenging topics towards their specific exam style that will be useful to them. A typical lesson should last around 1 hour and 30 minutes, but can be longer depending on the student and how much they feel they have taken out of the lesson that day, I do not mind spending more time to make sure my student feels their best about their subject and confident in their ability to pass with outstanding marks. I am currently studying Biomedical science at the University of Liverpool as a second year student. I have been doing private tutoring for the past 2 years i really find validation in watching my student progress in their mentality and approach to education as you don't have to be born smart to get good grades and do well in life. I like to engage with my students and relate to struggles that they may face academically. My lessons are for children from the ages of 11 upwards to 16.
