About Mark
I am currently a second year PhD student at the University of Sheffield studying evolutionary genetics and have previously studied medicine and zoology at the University of Glasgow.
I moved to Sheffield in 2018 where I taught all three sciences at a secondary school before switching to a PhD.
I also have extensive experience as a sports coach, therefore I'm used to working with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities

I like to start with establishing what students already know before starting on the basics. I believe building a strong foundation is key to fully understanding science. I like to use everyday analogies and interactive and, if appropriate, active lessons to fully engage students. I will always start by making sure students learn what they need to know and are equipped with the skills and tools to complete exam style questions successfully. On top of this I will endeavour to inspire students and encourage them to follow their scientific interests further.
